UR Pride Workshops- Jan./Feb. 2012
The UR Pride Centre is pleased to announce that they are offering workshops this semester:
1. Intro to Positive Space Network:
“Positive Space is a movement that seeks to create a campus and community environment that welcomes sexual and gender diversity. The goal is to challenge homophobia and heteronormativity to promote a safe, welcoming environment for all students, employees and citizens.” Come and learn some basic terms and theories and learn how to apply them to your study/practice.
2. Intro to LGBTQ- In this workshop we dive into more terminology, talk about self-defined terms, differentiate between sex and gender and talk about language.
3. Sex and Gender- This workshop is all about the “grey area.” We discuss alternatives to binary sex and gender including: transgender, transsexual, intersex, two-spirit, cross-dressers, etc. etc. etc.
